Get a Tarp is a professional emergency roof tarping service powered by SeekNow. We send a vetted, insured professional to your home to assess the damage, provide a transparent on-site quote, and install a tarp to protect your roof from further water intrusion. That is all we do — we are not a roofing company and we do not sell repairs.
No — and that is intentional. We are a standalone tarping service only. We do not repair roofs, we do not recommend roofers, and we have no financial relationship with any roofing contractor. After your tarp is installed and your documentation is delivered, you choose your own roofer completely independently of us. No referral fees, no kickbacks, no pressure.
We respond to all common causes of roof damage: storm and wind damage, fallen trees or large branches, missing or blown-off shingles, active roof leaks, fire damage, and any other event that has left your roof exposed. If your roof needs temporary protection, we can help.
We tarp all common residential and commercial roof types: shingle, flat, low-slope, and metal roofs. Describe your roof type in the quote form and your Seeker will arrive prepared for it.
Yes. We tarp both residential and commercial properties. If you have a commercial building with roof damage, use the same quote form and describe the property type and scope of damage. Larger or more complex jobs are handled on a case-by-case basis through our scheduling team.
For the quote, we strongly recommend being present — your Seeker will walk you through what they found and give you the quote in person. If you cannot be there, reach out to us after submitting your form and we will work with you on a solution.
Every job includes a complete documentation package: high-resolution photos of the damage before the tarp was installed, photos of the completed tarp installation, a written damage assessment with measurements, and a cost record. This package is formatted to meet the documentation standard that insurance adjusters use — because SeekNow has been producing reports for insurance companies for 13+ years.
Please contact us directly for current warranty details on workmanship. What we can say is that every tarp is installed to professional standards — secured properly to withstand normal wind conditions. If you have a concern after installation, reach out and we will make it right.
Pricing
5 questions
Most residential roof tarps range from $300 to $800, depending on the size of tarp needed to cover the damaged area. Pricing is based on tarp size — not on how severe the damage looks or how urgent your situation is. Your Seeker assesses the roof in person and gives you a clear quote before any work begins.
No. The on-site visit and quote are completely free. Your Seeker comes to your property, assesses the damage, and gives you a number — at no cost and with zero obligation to proceed.
None. The quote you approve is what you pay. Documentation, photos, and the damage report are included in every job at no extra charge. There are no after-the-fact fees, no travel surcharges, and no surprise line items.
Price is determined by the size of the tarp required to adequately cover and protect the damaged area. A larger damaged section requires a larger tarp and a higher price. Your Seeker measures the area on-site and calculates the correct tarp size before quoting.
Payment details are handled at the time of service. Your Seeker will walk you through this during the on-site visit. You approve the quote before any work begins — you will never be charged for work you did not agree to.
Insurance
7 questions
In most cases, yes. Standard homeowner's insurance policies include coverage for emergency protective measures — including tarping — when the damage was caused by a covered event like a storm, wind, hail, or a fallen tree. We recommend confirming with your insurer, as coverage details vary by policy. Learn more on our insurance page.
Yes — this is one of the most important reasons to use a professional. Many insurance policies require that emergency repairs be performed in a "workmanlike manner." A DIY tarp with no documentation, improper installation, or no before-and-after photos can result in a denied or reduced claim. Damage caused by an improperly installed tarp may also be excluded from coverage entirely. Professional installation protects your claim.
Your adjuster will typically need: photos of the damage before the tarp was installed, photos of the completed tarp installation, a written damage assessment with measurements, and a record of the cost. We provide all of this on every job — formatted the way insurance adjusters expect to receive it, based on 13+ years of producing reports directly for insurance companies.
We do not communicate directly with your insurer on your behalf — that is between you and them. What we do is give you the complete, professional documentation package that makes your claim as strong as possible. You submit it, and because it is formatted to the standard adjusters use every day, it moves through the process cleanly.
Typically, the tarping cost is folded into your overall damage claim — not treated as a separate deductible event. So if your total claim is $15,000 and your deductible is $2,000, the tarp expense is part of that $15,000 figure. Confirm the specifics with your insurer.
Get a tarp installed as quickly as possible, even if some additional damage has already occurred. Most policies require you to take reasonable steps to prevent further loss. Acting promptly — even if not immediately — demonstrates good faith. The longer your roof sits exposed, the more difficult the claim may become.
Extensively. SeekNow has spent 13+ years performing property inspections directly for insurance companies — completing 2,000+ inspections per day coast-to-coast. The documentation format we use for Get a Tarp jobs is the same format insurance adjusters receive from SeekNow every day. That familiarity is a significant advantage for your claim.
Seekers
5 questions
Seekers are the professionals who visit your home to assess the damage, provide your quote, and install the tarp. They are part of the SeekNow network — the same group of field professionals that insurance companies have relied on for property inspections for 13+ years. Every Seeker is background-checked and insured before they ever visit a home.
Yes. Every Seeker passes a thorough background screening before joining the network. You are not opening your door to a stranger off a job board — Seekers are vetted professionals who have met SeekNow's standards for field work.
Yes. Seekers carry liability and workers' compensation insurance, so you are protected throughout the visit and installation. If you have specific questions about coverage levels, contact us directly.
No. Seekers have no financial incentive to upsell you on roofing repairs, additional services, or anything else. Get a Tarp is a standalone tarping business — it is not a lead generation tool for a roofing company. Your Seeker quotes the tarp, installs it if you approve, and leaves. That is the job.
Yes. When your appointment is confirmed, you will know who is coming before they arrive. You should never feel like an unknown person showed up at your home unannounced.

We typically install within 24-48 hours of your request. With Seekers available coast-to-coast, we can usually get someone scheduled quickly. After you submit the form, our scheduling team confirms availability and gets your appointment on the calendar.
Submit the short form on our website. A Seeker will be routed to your location within 24-48 hours. They assess the damage in person, measure the area, and give you a clear quote on the spot. If a Seeker is immediately available, you may be able to book directly through the form. If we need to coordinate, our scheduling team will call you to confirm a time.
Not at all. Your Seeker provides the quote with no pressure. You can approve it right there and have the tarp installed the same visit, or take the quote and think about it. We are here when you are ready — though we do recommend acting promptly after roof damage to prevent further water intrusion.
Most residential tarp installations take between one and three hours, depending on the size of the damaged area, the roof type, and site conditions. Your Seeker will give you a realistic time estimate during the on-site assessment.
A professionally installed tarp is a temporary protective measure — not a permanent fix. Under normal conditions, a properly secured tarp can hold for several weeks to a few months. The right approach is to get your roof repaired by a qualified roofer as soon as possible. The tarp buys you time to do that without additional water damage accumulating.
